    Return to love, Christ’s love

Where has the love that Christ spoke of gone? Some days it appears that many of us who call ourselves Christians have lost the meaning of the word and are sucking the world dry of love’s power to heal, restore and save. it’s time in this country, in this world for a return to love as a starting point for our concerns for and about other people’s behaviors. My soul longs for less clanging condemnation and more love from believers I hear, see and read about.

So as a reminder today I offer these words of wisdom from the One who loves us so much He paid the ultimate sacrifice for us.  If we could love more like Jesus, what a different world this would be.

“One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question:  “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”    Matthew 22:35-40 (New International Version)

Who is your neighbor and what does it mean to you to love your neighbor as yourself?
