Encourage yourself
On days like today–rainy, windy and cold and clouded with some not so good news, I wake up searching for a word of encouragement. One of the ways I start my day is to look out of the window and repeat my version of this Scripture, “This is the day that the Lord has made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it.”

I have learned to encourage myself so that I can be ready to offer encouragement to someone else who may also need it. I turned to the Bible, where I regularly find what I need in the Psalms, or to my stack of well-used devotional books. Today I will offer you one of the Psalms that helps me see the promise and potential in rainy days. Sunshine or rain, everyday is a gift from God filled with possibilities. Enjoy today and make something good happen.
Psalm 121
1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
where does my help come from?2 My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.3 He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.5 The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;6 the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
he will watch over your life;8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.Do you have a favorite Scripture that gets you going in the morning?
